also with this new layout you got i think you should make it so the updates go straight down so they aren't all clustered in the middle.

A download section : 3DS Max, Maya
A video section for new projects.
A video section for tutorials.

Thanks for the ideas.
I have thought of a dl section, but i don't think there is much to DL. What do you suggest to download ? Max and maya are not free.
The video section is one I have thought about many times, in fact im thinking of making a new set of video tutorials from beginner up to advanced and putting them just on here and taking mine off utube.

Well of course not. These programs can only be obtained if bought.
The download section should contain:
- .bip files / other motion files (in 3DS Max case)
- Max / Maya addons
- Character Models (with or without fixed biped)
- Maya things (sorry but I don't use Maya 
so I don't know what it contains 
)
As for the video section, YouTube is ok, but you could redirect there from this site so it would be much easier to find, or better: to upload in-site videos.
Here is another nice idea: Machinima Rating
ex: when someone finished his / hers machinima and published it, people will most likely want to rate it (from bad to perfect). You can develop this later. it's just an idea

The best I can think of is rather than a downloads section, maybe just a bunch of links to free plugins that could be of use.

Well, at least the model downloads look ok for now.
Not only models, but also environment creations by other people or so.
The plug-in factor can be left off.
A help tab for site would be of use.
